…has begun in Belize! I know it’s not quite Halloween yet, and this country has nothing on the U.S. as far as holiday marketing goes. As a matter of fact, I haven’t seen a single decoration outside the compound. But we’ve had two three-day weekends this month (American Columbus Day and Central American Columbus Day), so it feels like the holidays. We also have our two Halloween parties coming up…one for the kiddies and one for the grown-ups.

Last night we had our annual Hail and Farewell party at the Ambassador’s residence to welcome all the people that have arrived since last year and to bid good-bye to those who are about to rotate out. Even though it was at the CMR, it was a fairly mellow potluck event that was open to all ages.

We didn’t do much for the long weekends as I had virtually no money left over after the month of September. So I actually got a little stir crazy by the end of the 2nd one and was dying to leave the country again. But I’ve settled back in and have cheered up slightly now that we have some events on the calendar.

We even put up a few Halloween decorations.  🙂
